A Brief History:

Belcher Engineering was originally established in 1978 by Brian Belcher under the name Bestgain Ltd. In late 1979, the company was rebranded as Belcher Engineering.

In its early years, the business engaged in a diverse range of activities including the production of New Wonder Cement Mixers, servicing the paper industry, and operating a garage—all based at Stanton Industrial Estate. Over time, the focus shifted away from cement mixer manufacturing and garage operations, leading to a new direction centered around Vintage Ford vehicles. This transition marked the beginning of a long-standing partnership with Macs Autoparts. Annual visits to the Beaulieu Autojumble became a regular tradition, serving both as a sales opportunity and a platform for brand promotion.

A major milestone occurred in 1993–1994 with the acquisition of a substantial inventory of Vintage Ford parts from Bert Thomas. This significantly expanded Belcher Engineering’s offerings in the vintage automotive sector. (See the Bert Thomas Story: Link)

In 1995, Gary and Jane Miller—Brian’s daughter—completed a management buyout after having managed the business for several years. Following the sale of Stanton Industrial Estate at the turn of the century, Belcher Engineering relocated to Rickinghall, operating from premises owned by Gary and Jane.

By 2019, the company was being run by Gary and his daughter Charlotte, with support from his son James. That year, Belcher Engineering acquired Ultimate Spares of America (Wymondham), relocating its entire inventory to Rickinghall and expanding into American car parts.

In 2022, James and Sarah Miller took ownership of Belcher Engineering. Under their leadership, the company placed a renewed emphasis on car restoration and entered the Restomod market. This period also saw further growth in the car parts business, supported by an enhanced online presence.
